La biotéchnologie, un savoir faire en Bretagne

Biotechnology: a historical expertise

Brittany ranks third among French regions in the field of biotechnology. This is no luck: the region is a strong major player in France in this area simply because it has capitalised on its historical expertise in the development of its natural resources to create a collective dynamic that feeds an innovative sector.

Blue and green biotechnologies

Brittany has established a unique position in both so-called blue and green biotechnologies. Blue refers to the the sea’s resources, and green to the fruit of agriculture. The Breton biotechnology sector is thus based on the development of marine resources and products of the food industry (livestock and crops).

This is built on historical foundations set in motion by exploiting the potential of the convergence of regional expertise in digital and health technologies.
